Farming on the Edge:  Livable Cities, Profitable Farms.  Presenters Dan McGrath, Staff Chair, Linn County Extension Sevice, Peter Kenagy, Kenagy Family Farms, Inc. Andrew Martin, Bald Hill Farm, Corvallis

The Willamette Valley anchors Oregon's agricultural economy.  A patchwork of fruit, nut, grain, vegetable, dairy, lifestock and grass seed farms supplies growing communities in Oregon and across the world.  Locally, population growth is expected to occur in the valley, raising the specter of increasing competition and conflict over land use.  How can commercial farms and growing urban communities co-exist?  What is the social contract between them?  Do we need new land use rules to define the urban/rural transition?
